Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DO PICK UPS AND DROP OFFS WORK?

We try to make it as convenient as possible for you. We can do pick up and drop offs with or without someone home.  We work with each pup's family on an individual basis.  If you are not going to be home, we will work with you on a way to access your pup for their Adventures (e.i. spare keys, garage codes, putting the dog in your yard etc.)

We also make pick ups and drop offs work with house and pet sitters.  So even when you are on vacation your pups can still go out on their Adventures.

We can also pick up from one location and drop off in a different location. We can pick up and/or drop off from jobs or offices.

How do the subscription plans work?

Our subscription plans are billed every four weeks.  Billing is done automatically on the start date of your plan.  Plans can be switched between billing cycles to fit you and your pup's needs.

Pick your pup's pace:  Choose 1, 2*, or 3* Adventures a week- whatever suits their tail-wagging needs and your schedule!

Stick to the same days each week, or mix it up with flexible scheduling*.  We are happy to move your days around and to add days (at your current Adventure rate) whenever you need, as long as we have the seats available.

(*Based on availability)

If we are closed for a day or week, don't worry- your plan will be prorated and you won't be charged for those days.  We like to say we're just two girls and a bus- so yes, we do take the occasional vacation and sick day.

If your pup needs to skip a day just let us know ahead of time and we'll adjust your plan.  Give us 24 hours' notice or more before your plan renews, and  you won't be charged for day(s) missed.  If you have already paid- no worries- missed Adventures can be rescheduled (if there is space) or credited toward your next plan.  We understand that life happens.

Please reach out if you need help choosing the best plan for your pup!

WHAT VACCINES ARE REQUIRED?
DO YOU REQUIRE DOGS TO BE SPAYED/NEUTERED?

For your dog's and others safety, we require dogs be up to date on parvo, distemper, and rabies vaccines. We also highly recommend Bordetella and canine flu vaccines and flea and tick protection, especially during the warmer months. We do require all dogs over the age of 12 months to be spayed/neutered.

How far out should I book my dog's Adventures?

With limited seats on the Adventure Bus, we recommend getting your Adventure requests in as soon as you are able.  For Single Adventures we require at least 48 hours notice for booking. This helps us be able to make sure our routes are manageable and that we can take your dog to the best Adventure Spots!  We close all adventures when they reach capacity. For subscription holder if you need to add a day, you can do so at the same rate as your current subscription pricing.

*Single Adventures are subject to availability.

DO YOU HAVE BREED RESTRICTIONS?

Absolutely not!  Your dog's temperament will be assessed during their meet and greet and during all Adventures to ensure that they are enjoying their time outside and with the other dogs.  Your dog must be able to get along with other dogs as our goal is to make sure all the dogs in our care are having a woof-tastic time.

Safety and your dog's wellbeing is also very important to us. During summer months we will restrict outings for brachycephalic (shorter-nosed or flat-faced) breeds.  As they can over-heat more easily, we will not be able to take them if the temperature, during their Adventure, is expected to be 80 degrees or more.

WHAT DO I SUPPLY FOR MY DOG'S FIELD TRIP?
We require all dogs to wear a harness so that they can be safely buckled into their bus seat. Harnesses should have the option to clip a leash on dogs back. Harnesses should also fit the dog snuggly to prevent them from being able to slip out of them. We do not recommend step-in style harnesses as they are the easiest for a dog to slip free from.   Feel free to send your dog in other attire such as coats or boots but keep in mind they may be lost or damaged as dogs play hard.   *You can find our harness recommendation at these links below but any similiar harness will do.

WILL MY DOG GET DIRTY?
We Adventure all over the Treasure Valley and your pup will play in snow in the winter and water in the summer.  They will run through brush, mud, sand, and more.  They will likely get dirty, but they will have a great time!

Do you explore in the rain and snow?
Definitely! Unless there are safety or road concerns, we Adventure in the rain, sleet, snow, or sun.  The pups love our rainy days and snow days just as much as our sunny lake days!

Do you explore in the summer heat?
Yes! We work around the heat with doing lake days or trails with bodies of water so the pups can cool off.  We also run our pick up routes earlier to make sure we can beat the mid day heat.  We carry water on the trail for a mid-Adventure water break and have a big hydration break at the end of all Adventures no matter the weather.

What about Rattlesnakes?

Rattlesnakes are the only venomous snakes in the area and while we do our best to avoid them, they are certainly out there.  Fortunately rattlesnakes are able to warn us of their presence. We make sure to keep our eyes and ears open at all times for potential hazards including rattlesnakes.  When we do come across snakes, we recall all the dogs and pass at a safe distance.

Rattlesnake vaccines are available at most vet clinics for those who would like the extra precaution.  You can also find rattlesnake aversion training clinics for those that wish to teach their dogs to avoid snakes.

What about CHEATGRASS?

Cheatgrass is a concern for dogs all over the Treasure Valley.  It is found in the foothills, desert areas, and around water ways.  It is even present in backyards, driveways, fields, and lots.  We do our best to keep our adventurers safe from cheatgrass awns becoming embedded in their skin, ears, or nose by checking pup over and removing any awns we see in sensitive areas as well as a quick brush when we see large numbers in the dog's fur. â€‹

Keeping your dog's coat short if possible (especially around ears and paws), brushing out your pup often, and keeping an eye out for symptoms of cheatgrass embedment is the best defense against cheatgrass issues for our adventurers during outdoor excursion in the spring and summer months.  You can find more information from our friends at Pawspital Animal Hospital here.

Why do you use remote trainers/e-collars?
Safety of the dogs in our Adventure crews is our top priority when we are out on the trails. We view remote trainers as beneficial tools, intended to enhance safety. Our remote trainers allow us to effectively communicate with our pack while also allowing them an off leash experience. Our collars provide a safety net of communication when verbal commands may be ineffective by featuring options for tone, vibration, and static correction and are not intended to induce fear or pain to the dog.  Generally, we utilize vibration to interrupt undesirable behaviors and tone for recall purposes.  In situations involving potential dangers, such as wildlife, hazardous waters, or harmful plants, remote trainers can be invaluable.
